have you tried rebuilding the case you have alot of times it is a broken detent spring causeing ti to come out of gear. Not sure on the d20 cases. what trans are you running?

Just tryin to figure out what a Dana 20 fits, i mite know a guy who has 1 from a jeep!!!

Dana 20I took it apart hoping it was just the springs, only to find the gears worn and chipped. I could continue to use it, but why bother when it is already out.
I just picked up a ford dana 20. It has a better low range. I read up on the change, and decided to tackle it. I had to do some grinding on the case to fit the bigger gear. The other issue is the front engage sliding gear had a bigger radus shift fork area. I just picked it up from a machine shop last night, so I am hoping to get it together tonight.
I still am looking for another 20 as a spare incase there are issues with this conversion.
